Monfragüe National Park is the best representation of the Mediterranean Woodland in Europe, internationally recognized sanctuary for observing birds, especially raptors, as the largest colony of Black Vulture of the world and important representations of Spanish Imperial Eagle, Booted Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Peregrine Falcon, Black Winged Kite, Eurasian Eagle- Owl, Bee-eater, Kingfisher… In addition to a strong presence of the elusive Black Stork.

Recognised as Natural Park in 1979, and later on as a National Park in 2007, Special Protection Area for Birdsand Site of Community Importance for Europe and Biosphere Reserve by the Unesco offers now thanks to Monfragüe Landscape, the privilege of knowing unexplored corners for tourism, never before visited. Spaces that are in magnificent conditions and its multiple natural values are intact.

Far from frequented roads for public use in the area, the property is partly included (23% of its extension) in the enclosure of Monfragüe National Park.

The most representative ecosystems of Monfrague are inside the property, especially the Dehesa and Mediterranean Woodland, the spectacular Rocky Areas in the Espejo and Piatones mountains range and the Riverines.

Whereas these natural and cultural values that have not been open to the public so far may be made available through a model of Sustainable Tourism, responsible with the environment.

We have proposed ourselves to make compatible usestouristic activities and traditional uses with Monfragüe’s National Park conservation.
